FAQs

  • Our first session together will provide you with the opportunity to decide if you feel that I can help you. We can discuss what you hope to achieve from counselling and any concerns that you may have in a safe, non judgmental, comfortable space.

  • I am an Integrative practitioner and this means that I am able to respect your unique needs by drawing upon a range of psycho-therapeutic approaches. My work is underpinned by Clarkson's Relationship Model which means that I work in a 'relational' way focusing on us building a strong and supportive relationship where you feel heard and understood.

I mainly draw upon the Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis modalities in my work.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy - is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on exploring the psychological roots of emotional suffering. It emphasises understanding the influence of our childhood on present behaviour and aims to help individuals gain insight into their deep-seated feelings and unresolved conflicts.

Transactional Analysis - is a form of psychotherapy that examines interactions (transactions) between individuals to understand and improve communication and relationships. There are often repetitive, unconscious patterns of behaviour that people play out in their interactions and this form of therapy helps to identify and understand these.

  • Usually people attend therapy weekly. However, if you feel you’d like to attend more/less frequently, this can usually be arranged within your initial appointment.

Some people may attend therapy for a few months and feel they have got what they need, others may continue therapy for years. This is entirely based on you.

Each session costs £60, and the session lasts for 50 minutes.

  • Yes. There are some very rare exceptions which may require a therapist to break confidentiality for example, if you express a serious wish to harm yourself or others. Confidentiality is explained in detail within a document that will be provided to you and discussed within your first appointment.
