ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Josie Weller and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice and provide you with a safe space to explore and resolve what may have led you to seek therapy.
I have a diverse background, having worked in various settings such as the NHS, the prison and police sectors, volunteer work with Samaritans, and as a volunteer counsellor at an agency specialising in supporting survivors of sexual abuse.
My Approach
I am dedicated to working in a trauma-informed, non-pathologising, and non-stigmatising manner. Instead of viewing you through the lens of “what is wrong with you?” I focus on “what happened to you?” I understand that our behaviours are often shaped by what we have needed to do to keep ourselves safe, or to try to meet our needs in some way.
I employ an integrative approach, combining theories and skills from various therapeutic methods to meet your needs flexibly. I also prioritise a relational approach, ensuring that we build a strong working relationship and that you feel heard in a supportive environment.
My Areas of Interest
My areas of interest focus on relational difficulties, including:
Healing from feelings of insecurity in relationships, whether you feel anxious, avoidant, or a mixture of both (focusing on attachment styles).
Recovering from break-ups and navigating single life.
Dealing with feelings of jealousy, including about a partner's past (also known as retroactive jealousy).
Addressing intense romantic feelings or obsessive thoughts about someone (including limerence).
Understanding and improving difficult or unhealthy relationship patterns.
Overcoming fear of commitment and getting close to others.
Building self-worth and self-love.
Recovering from co-dependent relationships.
If you are interested in working with me but feel that your concerns don’t fit into this list, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm open to discussing how we can work together to meet your needs.
